Few means of transport are as cheap, efficient and environmentally sustainable as the bicycle. It provides freedom, mobility and independence. Still, in many parts of the world bikes are used almost solely by men. Making cycling more acceptable and attractive for women brings huge benefits on both an individual and a societal level.
Women on Wheels works with local governments and other stakeholders around the world to improve women's mobility through bicycling. Our methods for change include working with norms and attitudes, improving infrastructure and rethinking the bicycle itself. |
